Curious about Olympic pistol or rifle?

Begin with a visit. See a practice, meet the coaches and understand the training environment before deciding whether the academy is the right fit.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Scheduled coaching and a clear place to begin.

Team Shooting Stars is an athlete-development academy. Practices are coached and organized around safety, technical learning and steady progression.

Youth and adult athletes are welcome to inquire. Some participants are completely new to the sport; others already compete and want more structured preparation. Adaptive and Para athletes and families are also welcome to begin with a conversation.

Competition is introduced when it supports the athlete’s development. It is not a requirement for everyone who trains with the academy.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

See the sport before deciding.

Observe a practice

See Air Pistol and Air Rifle training, range commands, electronic targets and how coaches work with athletes.

Ask practical questions

Talk about experience, goals, schedule, equipment, accessibility and anything that would affect a good starting point.

Understand the fit

A visit gives the athlete and family enough context to decide whether structured academy training is the right next step.

The full participation sequence, fee and schedule are explained on the Join page.

WHAT A COACH DOES

The goal is understanding, not dependence.

A coach does more than point out where a shot landed. Coaching helps the athlete understand what happened, decide what can be changed and learn how to recognize the same issue independently later.

Early in training, the coach provides much of the structure: safety, position, equipment use, shot process and what the athlete should pay attention to. As experience grows, the athlete is expected to observe more, ask better questions, test corrections thoughtfully and take greater responsibility for preparation.

Good coaching should gradually make the athlete more capable of solving problems without waiting for an answer after every shot.

EQUIPMENT

Do not rush the purchase.

Competition pistols, rifles, grips, clothing and accessories are specialized, and fit matters. Beginners do not need to arrive with personal competition equipment.

Talk with a coach before making a significant purchase. A good decision depends on the athlete, discipline, stage of development and actual training needs.
