WHY THE ACADEMY EXISTS

Olympic precision shooting is difficult to learn in isolation.

Good coaching, equipment fit, a suitable range and an understanding of competition procedures all matter. Most families entering the sport do not already have access to those things.

Team Shooting Stars brings them together in one training environment so athletes can begin safely, understand what they are learning and progress at a level that fits their experience and goals.

Our purpose is straightforward: teach the sport well, develop responsible and increasingly independent athletes, and keep the pathway open for the next person who wants to learn it.

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT

Good coaching should build independence.

The goal is not to keep an athlete dependent on a coach. Athletes should gradually understand their own process well enough to make better decisions for themselves.

Athletes learn what they are doing and why, test corrections deliberately, reflect on what happened and gradually take more responsibility for their own training.

The full everyday learning cycle and the longer development process are explained on Athlete Development.

TRAINING FACILITY

The training environment follows the sport.

The academy operates a 10-meter range to USA Shooting and ISSF competition specifications, with electronic scoring capability and structured coaching in Air Rifle and Air Pistol. Paper targets remain available for beginner instruction and other training needs.

The academy also has access to an outdoor pistol range with 50-meter capability, used for Sport Pistol and Rapid Fire Pistol training and events as appropriate to each discipline.

Team Shooting Stars is a USA Shooting Certified Training Center — Rifle & Pistol.

ATHLETE SAFETY

Safety is part of the training.

Technical progress never takes priority over athlete welfare. Coaches complete the background screening and SafeSport training required for their roles, and the academy uses clear expectations for range safety, conduct and safeguarding.

LEADERSHIP

Experience carried forward.

Mayura Jahagirdar and Dr Amol Khedgikar came to leadership after years as accomplished competitive rifle athletes, with several national-level medals between them. They remain directly involved in coaching and the day-to-day work of the academy as volunteers.

That work is shared by the Board, range officers, parents, adult and junior athletes, and other volunteers who help keep training and competition opportunities available.

Visit a practice, meet the coaches and see the training environment before deciding whether the academy is the right fit. No prior experience or personal competition equipment is required for a first visit.
