AIR RIFLE

Air Rifle

A 10-meter Olympic precision discipline where position, balance, equipment fit and consistency all affect the shot.

What the discipline requires

In Air Rifle, small changes in body position, balance, breathing and equipment setup can change the shot. Athletes learn to build a stable position, understand what is happening within it and reproduce it consistently.

What athletes learn

Training covers safe equipment handling, natural alignment, position building, balance, breathing, sighting, trigger control, follow-through and shot evaluation. The athlete learns to connect what they feel in the position with what appears on the target, then make deliberate adjustments rather than guessing.

How athletes progress

Beginners start with safety, basic position and the shot process. As athletes progress, coaching incorporates individualized equipment setup, training plans, journaling, match routines, pressure management and competition preparation.

Equipment and fit

Competition rifles, jackets, trousers, shoes, gloves and accessories are highly specialized. More equipment is not automatically better equipment. New athletes should work with a coach before purchasing items so decisions reflect the athlete’s size, development, goals and actual needs.

Who tends to enjoy Air Rifle?

Air Rifle often appeals to athletes who enjoy detailed technical learning, body control, concentration, individual responsibility and the challenge of reproducing a precise process.
