ABOUT TEAM SHOOTING STARS

Keeping the pathway open for the next athlete.

Team Shooting Stars is a volunteer-run non-profit precision shooting academy serving North Texas.

MISSION

Develop athletes through Olympic precision shooting.

Team Shooting Stars provides structured coaching with a focus on safety, technical understanding, deliberate practice, reflection and responsible competition. As athletes progress, they take more responsibility for their preparation and decisions on and off the range.

VISION

Keep the pathway open for the next athlete.

We want athletes in North Texas, whatever their starting point, goals or physical ability, to have a responsible place to discover the sport, pursue it as far as their interest and ability take them, and eventually help carry the opportunity forward.

WHY THE ACADEMY EXISTS

Access to the sport is not simple.

Qualified coaching is limited. Suitable facilities are uncommon. Equipment is specialized, and the competition structure is unfamiliar to many families entering the sport.

The academy brings those resources together so athletes have a practical place to begin, develop and compete responsibly.

Preparation, judgment, respect, resilience, accountability and service are qualities deliberately practiced within that environment.

OUR STORY

Built over time, carried forward by volunteers.

Team Shooting Stars was founded by Brooks Brinson and developed through the work of coaches, athletes, parents and volunteers. Dave Schaller gave many years to the organization and helped establish a strong technical and competitive foundation for the academy.

When Dave stepped back from active coaching, Mayura Jahagirdar and Dr Amol Khedgikar assumed responsibility for the day-to-day coaching and operation of the academy. Both came to that work after years as competitive rifle athletes themselves, and for approximately five years they have devoted substantial volunteer time to training, competition preparation, range operations, families, matches and the organizational work behind the program.

Today, approximately 10–15 rifle athletes and 10–15 pistol athletes from the academy qualify for national-level competition, representing Team Shooting Stars and Texas at events across the country. The larger purpose remains athlete development: helping each participant learn the sport well, prepare responsibly and become increasingly capable of understanding their own performance.

That responsibility is shared. The Board, coaches, range officers, junior and adult athletes, parents and other volunteers all contribute to the way the academy operates.
