Personal Bio

Matt grew up in the Dallas, Texas area.  He attended Texas A&M University where he met his wife.  They’re both Class of 1995.  They’ve lived in the Dallas area since finishing college and have a two elementary-age kids, both promising young shooters.  Matt is a software engineer, project manager, and principal in an education services firm.

Shooting Bio

Matt was first introduced to shooting when he was 4-years-old by his father and grandfather.  His first match was the State Indoor 3-Position Smallbore Rifle Championship at age 13. In high school, he competed in several NRA Bullseye Pistol matches in Dallas.

His first regular training and competition was as a member of the Texas A&M Pistol Team from 1991-1993 where he competed at the Junior Olympic National Championships and the Intercollegiate Championships and earned a University Letter in pistol shooting.

After a 10-year break, he started training and competing again heavily from 2003 to 2006, then took another hiatus while he focused on his young family and several growing business opportunities.

After a 4-year break, he resumed training again in late 2010 with the Shooting Stars team.

Matt is ranked nationally among the top 20 shooters in the US in free pistol and top 30 in air pistol.

He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Shooting Stars Board of Directors.

  • Become an NRA certified pistol coach

  • 2004 – Silver – Men’s 10m Air Pistol – TXU Games of Texas
  • 2004 – Gold – Men’s 10m Air Pistol - USA Shooting Southwest Regional Championship
